Sustainable material variety for robust all-cardboard blisters.
The CABLIblue 870 card-to-card blister system produces robust all-cardboard blisters completely without single-use plastics and thus addresses key requirements of the new EU packaging regulation PPWR. The system demonstrates precisely this future viability with the unique flexibility of simultaneously producing blisters from different fiber-based materials.
At interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, the CABLIblue 870 processes four different fiber-based materials from virgin material, recycling, grass and silphium, simultaneously in an integrated production and sealing process – a world first. The IWK engineers impressively demonstrate how high-quality solid cardboard blisters can be produced efficiently, material-saving and process-stable, even under the new legal framework. The cover cards and matching blister hoods were provided by the packaging specialist Karl Knauer KG and manufactured to a high standard. A bamboo toothbrush and a toothpaste tube will be packaged live – two products that exemplify the trend towards plastic-free packaging solutions.
With card-to-card technology, IWK is positioning itself as a forward-looking design partner that does not only react to market changes, but actively finds new solutions. The CABLIblue 870 is an example of how IWK is developing innovative technologies that help companies switch to paper- and fiber-based packaging – and thus make a decisive contribution to reducing plastics, complying with future regulations and establishing a true circular economy.
Thanks to its modular design, ergonomic stations and extraordinary variety of materials, the CABLIblue 870 not only meets current market needs, but also future regulatory requirements for recyclability, material minimization and sustainable packaging design. It is ideal for cosmetics, DIY items, medical technology and pharmaceutical applications – those industries in which sustainable packaging conversions are progressing particularly dynamically.
