STATE-OF-THE-ART PARTS PRODUCITON AT IWK

Thanks to current investment in a new CNC lathe, IWK has taken another step towards ensuring it uses state-of-the-art technology. According to each drawing, the new CNC machine works on a range of parts, which are also installed in the cycloids of IWK‘s cartoning machines as key parts. Rotary valve housings, cycloids, lids, cams, and format parts can be manufactured in the highest quality with this machine.

Delivery times are reduced thanks to the rapid processing of the manufactured parts. In the event of bottlenecks, or if other manufacturing machines stop, the parts can be finished quickly and easily on the new machine. The machine represents an expansion of IWK‘s production capacities as a result of continuously high demand for professional packing solutions.

The employees operating the machine played a big part from the very beginning in choosing the new CNC lathe at IWK, which ensured the machine was well received and a high level of employee satisfaction. Before purchasing the CNC machine, its advantages were demonstrated on existing manufactured parts with elaborate production contours. The employees noted the time saved and the quality of the di erent manufactured parts, with a result of 25-30 % plus an even higher level of quality.

The new machine is fully protected so that the oil mist produced during processing is extracted via the oil emulsion mist fi lter and all pollutants are filtered out. A modern single-chamber fi lter provides the necessary coolant purification, thus making a significant contribution to safeguarding the health and safety of our employees. As a result, a clean and pleasant working environment is created. After a short introduction period, the machine already began to be operated independently by our employees in two-shift mode.

„Previously, all adjustments had to be carried out manually,“ explains Johann Lenart, team leader of turned part manufacturing at IWK. „Today, employees are able to program the machine themselves using modern controls and can keep up to 12 tools simultaneously in a so-called „revolver“. The physical strain when changing tools is therefore minimized; after all, the health and safety of employees is of paramount importance when choosing technical tools.“

The latest IWK innovation in the area of tube fillers opens up new packaging opportunities for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries’ sensitive products and high hygiene standards.

GOOD PACKAGING: UHU

IWK have been ensuring the reliable filling of tubes with a huge range of adhesives and product variants at UHU since 1954. At last count there were 12 machines in use: Tube filling machines, horizontal cartoning machines, infeeds and other models.
